Ways with Words
This website has information about the services I provide, as well as notes on media and writing, background material about my books, a Language Watch page to which you're encouraged to contribute and more. I hope you find the information here helpful, and if you are interested in following up on any aspect of my work, feel free to contact me.
Then I have been a writer and editor for around 30 years. In that time I have done everything from writing jokes for Billy T James to writing a biography for Willie Apiata. I have an award for best radio comedy programme and one for best editorial writer. I have produced a national radio news show, a TV talk show and a reality TV show involving girls and the Outback. I have written for many magazines, and edited several, including Metro and the New Zealand Listener. Although I have worked in most media, print is what I love best. Now Today I earn my living partly as a consultant, columnist and feature writer, but my greatest passion is sharing my enthusiasm for language and writing with others and helping people become better communicators by developing their writing skills, particularly in their professional lives. I do this through my several Ways with Words seminars which are particularly popular with corporate clients as well as publishing companies and individuals.
Ongoing Away from the computer and the whiteboard, I am father to five children, grandfather to one and husband to Green Goddess Wendyl Nissen. We live, somewhat predictably, in Grey Lynn.
